Bangkok is the trip your group plans on a Tuesday and books for the following month. Flights are cheap, the city runs efficiently, and a four-night trip can include rooftops, temples, a Michelin street-food meal, and one wild night at Khao San — without ever feeling rushed.

Quick facts
- Fly into
- BKK (Suvarnabhumi) or DMK (Don Mueang)
- Visa (India)
- Visa-free for 60 days (check current rules)
- Get around
- BTS Sky Train + Grab + occasional tuk-tuk
- Stay area
- Sukhumvit (Asok / Phrom Phong) or Riverside
Where to stay
Sukhumvit (Asok or Phrom Phong) is the practical base — on the BTS, walkable to malls, full of restaurants. Riverside (near Saphan Taksin) is more atmospheric and better if your trip is photo-heavy. Avoid Khao San as a base unless your group is 22 and proud — it's a great night out, a tough morning after.
Food, ranked by effort
Bangkok has Michelin-starred street food (Jay Fai, Raan Jay Fai), elite mid-range Thai (Soei, Krua Apsorn), and chaotic-and-perfect food courts inside every mall. For one nice dinner, book Gaa or Sorn months ahead — or skip it and do a Chinatown food crawl on Yaowarat instead. The crawl wins more often.
- Must: pad krapow at any open-late shophouse.
- One reservation: Jay Fai (book the day they release slots, 30 days out).
- Best group meal: Supanniga Eating Room (Tha Tien branch, river view).
Rooftops without the tourist tax
Sky Bar at Lebua is the postcard but charges accordingly. Octave at Marriott Sukhumvit and Cielo at Phra Khanong give you the same skyline for half the price. For a sunset cocktail with breathing room, try Above Eleven on Soi 11.
Day trips and side quests
Ayutthaya is the day trip that earns the early start — temple ruins, river lunch, back by 7. Damnoen Saduak floating market is photogenic but touristy; Amphawa is the better-kept secret. If your group has 2 extra days, add Pattaya (skip) or fly to Krabi (do).

Splitting costs in Bangkok
- Withdraw THB at the airport ATM and pool a 'common cash' wallet — splits street food and tuk-tuks cleanly.
- Pre-book group activities (cooking class, cabaret, day trip) per head.
- One Grab XL for 6 people is cheaper than 2 regular Grabs. Use it for nights out.

FAQs
Is 4 nights enough?
Yes for the city alone. Add 3 – 4 more if you're tacking on Krabi, Phuket, or Koh Samui.
Cash or card?
Mostly cash for street food and tuk-tuks. Restaurants and malls take card.
Khao San — yes or no?
One night out, not a base. Go for the experience, leave before sunrise.
